WHO WE ARE

Balika Vikash Trust (BVT) was formed in 2017 and strives to combat human trafficking by transforming the lives of young girls and women, enabling them to evolve from vulnerable to resilient, independent, and successful. Furthermore, the Trust works to enhance awareness and offers educational support to at-risk girls, with a specific emphasis on the crime of human trafficking.

INTENDED BENEFICIARIES

The intended beneficiaries mostly include victims of sexual or physical abuse, trafficking, and girls who are at risk. Many of these beneficiaries, who originate from vulnerable backgrounds, find themselves unable to return to their homes or communities after being rescued due to the stigma, unsafe living conditions, the risk of re-trafficking, and ongoing legal matters. As a result of these circumstances, they are often placed in safe homes or registered Child Care Institutions (CCIs), where they receive a secure environment and education to help them revive a normal life. Given the traumatic experiences they have endured, the grief of losing relationships, significant changes in their previous lifestyles, and shifts in the attitudes of their loved ones, they remain vulnerable, often struggling with low self-esteem, self-worth, anger, anxiety, fear, and depression.

Purpose

To offer transformative aftercare services to girl child and women who have experienced trafficking and physical and/or sexual abuse.

To assist certain established Children Homes/Child Care Institutes (CCI) in their efforts to restore and rehabilitate victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, trafficking, and children from vulnerable background.

To enhance awareness/training concerning human trafficking, sexual offenses and POCSO Act, child labor, child marriage, and related matters.

To offer physical care, medical assistance, psycho-social services, education, vocational training, legal advocacy, self-defense training, counseling, and special education to the affected vulnerable girl child and women.

To enhance educational upliftment by bearing expenses and providing necessary materials such as uniforms, books, stationery, and any other essential items or commodities as needed for children in red-light areas.

To foster compassion and justice on behalf of those who are victimized and marginalised due to their vulnerable situations.
